RESTART A HEART
TO SAVE A LIFE

Defibrillator/DEFIB/AEDs, come in many different forms. But they all have universal symbols and functions. The most important thing you should know: Defibrillators do NOT require training!
Cardiac Arrest is sudden, that’s why people aren’t prepared to act. Most cardiac arrests happen at home. Having a DEFIB nearby can be the difference between life and death. These devices are simple, safe, and easy to use, even for someone with no medical training. When used quickly, a defibrillator can restore a heartbeat and give someone a second chance at life before emergency responders arrive.

Steps to use an AED:

  • Immediately call 911 as fast as you can.
  • Follow verbal and visual commands
  • Remove clothing
  • Apply pads
  • Allow device to analyze
  • Push button when prompted
  • Leave pads on and continue PUMPing
  • DO NOT STOP until help arrives or device reanalyzes
